Week 18

Well...... what can I say. I don't know if stressed out even came close in describing the week I just went through. A re-score was done and did not come back in our favor. We had all hoped that the #'s would reset back to the original #'s, but it didn't. The lending guys fought a good fight with the powers that be and needless to say the powers that be won and we loss. It was sad to say goodbye to our newly built home that we would never live in but hey, I still have my health. :/
So, on to the next......
I haven't figured out what the "next" is but rest assure, I'll find something to occupy my thoughts and time.
See you soon!

Week 17

Ugh.... Sorry to report that there is no news. No good news, no bad news.... just no news.
Well that's not true. We did the final walk through on Wednesday and yep, I'm in love with the house and yes I was very sad. Umm maybe it's my house maybe not.
We were suppose to sign on Friday but it was canceled due to the rapid re-score on our credit has yet to be produced. At this point, we hope all is fine and that we'll be signing sometime this week coming up. I think I'll just leave it at that and will keep you posted on the shenanigans of the world of credit scores.
Have a great week everyone!

Week 16

So I'm hoping this will be my last Sunday visit to the house. If everything works out, we should be closing on Friday. I'm not likely to hear anything regarding the credit score fiasco no later than Tuesday. I'm trying not to cry or stress about it cause lets face it, there's nothing I can say or do about it period. But believe me, I do want to cry and I am stressed it's making me sick to my stomach. Walking through the house today made it even more real for me. I love it but what if I lose it... it's killing me. Well here are today's pictures. Enjoy :)
The grass is in the fence is up and the shutter's and door have been painted

I've found that the good thing about having builder grade items throughout the house is being able to take my time making choices on the look I'm going for. Even when I was picking things like the carpet and granite, I felt rushed. I'm feeling better.
This week, if all goes well, I'll post the final walk through, the signing, the moving and the I'm not sorry to see you go... apartment. We moved to Texas 2 years ago and apartment living is not for me. We'll talk again on Wednesday.
And by the way.... feel free to comment!

week 15.5

Darn, now that I think of it, I should have done a drive by and snapped a picture of today's progress. I found out yesterday that the grass was going to be laid.
Well, this week hasn't been a good one on the house front. We found out that there's a blip on our credit report that could be a hindrance to us getting our house (well that's a bit of an exaggeration). This little blip didn't show up the first time our credit was checked back in May. To our surprise, we found out my brother-in-law added the 2 of us to his credit card as authorized users. The problem is my brother-in-law passed away this pass June and didn't leave a will. His wife couldn't pay any of the business bills until the legal stuff was settled. Because of that, she was delinquent on all the bills regarding the business. This just totally bites!
We're 3 days into this mess and if our loan officer doesn't get the letter from the credit card company by Friday morning, our closing will have to be pushed back. ERRRRR!!
All utility companies have been notified for turning on and off the various hook-ups. We already gave final notice and payment to our apartment complex. Deposit checks have been sent out. What a mess! The guys who were set up to help with the move were getting excited not because of the move itself but for what was at the end. Beer and food.
Have I mentioned how much this sucks? Ah nope.... haven't used the word suck yet :) ohh how it does! Suck I mean!
Alright enough.... I'll let you know where we stand on Sunday when I post next. OMG tomorrow is Friday. It all comes down to tomorrow. Maybe I'll make a call to the credit card company to see if it all went well.
I'll see you back on Sunday!

Week 15

It's almost here. Next Sunday will be the last time I take updated pictures of my home in progress. In less then 2 weeks we sign on the dotted line of the many many pages of one large document.
We grabbed the keys from the sales office and off we went into our home to check the progress. Here are some of today's pictures :)

TO DO LIST
(the boring stuff)
  1. Call and set up our cable, internet, phone, gas, electric, water and trash.
  2. Call the sod guy to sod our back yard.
  3. Call and set up a schedule for a lawn service.
  4. Set up delivery for furniture, washer & dryer and mattresses.
(the uber fun stuff)
  1. Go shopping and accessorize the house!
  2. Keep shopping till it's done!
So now that we'll be done in another week or so, I figure I'll take you on my next journey which will be putting my house together one room at a time.
For now..... have a great week and I'll see you next Sunday!

Week 14 Home update

Another week has passed and that makes us one week closer to closing on our new home. Next week I'll begin calling all utilities and setting that up. I know we're still 2-3 weeks away from the close date but I have to make sure it's all on the day of closing.

Week 13

I was kind of bummed today when the husband and I went for our usual look see at the house. I'll be showing you what they did on the outside and that's about it. The house is now locked. The sales guy who normally has the key (just in case it's needed) forgot the key at home. Ugh! Though looking through the window, it looks like the drywall has been taped and mud. We'll visit the house sometime this week just to keep up on the goings on.
The brick is up (a quick Saturday drive by)

It's almost over.... and it's kinda sad, but we move in in just short of 26 days woot woot!

Week 12

We got a call from the builder this past week and were given a tentative closing date of Oct 5. yipee!!! We are so excited just one more month.
Oh and we got another call on Friday from the builder wanting us to come over to take a look and to verify our color choices. Ummm yea those are the colors we chose and we're not changing our minds. The colors we chose were being used for the 1st time and the paint contractor wanted to be sure there were no errors in the choice. Other homeowners in the area were choosing the same old same old. It kinda made me second guess myself until I was watching a show over the weekend that were showing the colors we chose as top trending colors. I don't know if I really want trending colors because sooner or later, they'll fade and new colors will trend, but I really like the colors that I've chosen and I think I'll stick with them. Of course you won't be able to see it till it's painted.
This past week the brick was delivered, they poured the cement for the back patio and about 95% of the dry wall is up.

Week 11 update

The sidewalk has been poured, the roof shingles have been layed and most of the siding is up. Just waiting on the bricks.. hoping that it will happen sometime this week. Most of the innards have been installed and were guessing it's awaiting for the approval from the inspectors. Not sure. Here are just a few of the pictures from today.

Since this all began, my husband and I haven't bought anything new for this house. Our thought was we didn't want to have to pack it just to unpack it later. So we'll just do our shopping after we move in. I have to say tho... we window shop almost every weekend. With all that said, while we were out and about today, I bought something, it's just a little something :)

Rooster

Okay, I'm a dork right?! But it's so cute that I couldn't resist. Well we'll see what's new next Sunday till then, peace out.

Week 10 update of our home

What a difference 3 days makes. If you check last weeks photo's against this week, there's a big difference. I normally take pictures on Saturday which I did prior to Zumba class, but my sister-in-law was in town on Wednesday for the day and we decided to do a drive by with more picture taking. Here are the new pictures.

Week 9 We turned the corner and this is what we saw...

My husband and I decided to go to the gym for a Zumba class and thought we'd swing by the house since it's on the way. So we turned the corner and the first thing out of both our mouths were wow that's our house. Of course he stopped the vehicle and we did a high-five with huge smiles. And this is what we saw.

We did a bit of looking and this is what were thinking for the living area. We're kind of wanting to have a warm casual Texas feeling, let me know what you think.

Okay, check back next week for more updated house pictures and maybe more peaks on my decor ideas.

week 8 house progress

It's week 8 and we did a quick drive by. It's getting more exciting each time we check the progress of the house. I continue to burn up pinterest and I'm having fun with collecting ideas. Here are this weeks picture progress.
